THIS MOTIVATES ME!

I don’t want to be on the
“sidelines”. I want to participate, win or
lose. I want to make each moment count. I
expect to be in the valley as well as on the
mountaintop! I am ready to be bruised up, my
ego injured from time to time, and mentally
exhausted.
Success naturally
motivates us – to get to that place
where you begin to experience success you simply
start with discipline. Discipline yourself to
do the necessary work to achieve your goals. Do
this work over and over again. You will see
success. Even when we don’t feel like working
we can push ourselves to a place of obedience,
and out of performing habitual steps, create
success. We may need a little help getting to
that place of commitment. This preparation for
me includes:
1st
– Reviewing my belief in myself*
2nd
– Reviewing my belief in the company I work
for**
3rd
– Renewing my mind through prayer and
meditation***
*I like to make a list of
my strengths as well as my weaknesses. It’s a
way that permits me to evaluate my performance.
The goal is to perfect the existing strengths
and turn the weaknesses into strengths through
hard work and determination.

**I believe it’s important
to commit my time and participation to a company
because I value their vision. When we are
promoting a “worthy cause”, investing ourselves
in humanity becomes a driving force that doesn’t
easily escape our grip.
My husband and I were asked
to be “fill in” missionaries for a couple that
had to leave the island of Fiji rather
abruptly. We uprooted our family of six and
traveled around the world and spent three months
caring for the beautiful people of this
country. After anguishing over having to leave
at the end of our term, and traveling 22 long
hours home on an airplane with four children, we
decided we wanted to give our lives to the
mission field. I’ll never forget our pastor
saying in the most sincere tone I’d ever heard,
“Do everything you can to get out of this.” I
knew right away what he meant. The sacrifice
would envelop every aspect of our lives and it
would take all we had. We needed to know that
we could live with that.
There are choices that a
person can make that even though at times we may
want to give up, the work doesn’t want to give
us up. The work, the mission, has a life of its
own. If we have chosen the right thing to do,
it won’t easily let go of us. “It” has
tremendous “staying power”.
For me a company I
represent has to have a valuable mission
statement, one that I can be proud of. If a
company is daily working out that mission
statement, it’s easy to be re-motivated. I LOVE
WHAT I DO!

***Clearing my mind of
negative thoughts is a discipline. Simply being
still and listening for a soft inner voice of
encouragement or a gentle directional nudge, is
the private time I long for every day. This
exercise fills me with hope and strength to live
my live with power and purpose. Spending time
in prayer and meditating on great devotions
gives me all the assurance I need to be
confident that I will have victory in all
things.
